Front-end Engineer

About You

You are the fastest front-end developer that you know. You can bring a page to life using clean semantic html, beautiful CSS3, and plenty of tricked out jQuery -- and get it to validate (mostly). You enjoy working with a small tight-knit development team, sometimes burning the midnight oil to get a project deployed on a tight deadline. You learn quickly and can easily adapt to a wide variety of programming challenges. You are as comfortable writing object-oriented Javascript as you are getting something to display correctly in IE6.

Your Responsibilities
  • Build a rock solid UI, that is clean, fast, and accessible
  • Write lots of object-oriented Javascript, mostly using jQuery
  • Bring hi-res mockups to life, striving for pixel-perfect matching, while using an economy of assets (i.e. use css with as few images as possible)
  • Build beautiful pages with CSS3 that degrade gracefully in older browsers
  • Create HTML emails that hold up across email clients
You Must Have
  • Experience with Object-oriented Javascript, jQuery, CSS, semantic HTML
  • A basic sense for design and user experience
  • Ability to thrive in a startup environment
Bonus Points For
  • Familiarity with PHP, the Smarty template engine, or MySQL
  • Mobile (Android or iPhone) front-end coding experience

Software Engineer

About You

You love nothing more than developing web applications and writing clean and efficient code. You have a mind for both product and user experience, have great communication skills, and enjoy working with a tight-knit development team. You are a generalist who learns quickly and on the fly and who can easily adapt to a wide variety of programming challenges. You are as comfortable optimizing a MySQL query as you are getting CSS to work in IE6. You either have experience with or are excited to learn all parts of our stack: PHP, Smarty templates, MySQL, HTML, CSS, Javascript, Google Maps API, and Facebook Platform.

Programming Challenge (Optional)

Calculate the detour distance between two different rides. Given four lattitude / longitude pairs, where driver one is traveling from point A to point B and driver two is traveling from point C to point D, write a function (in your language of choice) to calculate the shorter of the detour distances the drivers would need to take to pick-up and drop-off the other driver.

Account Manager

The Position

We are seeking an aspiring account services representative who will ensure successful renewals of Zimride's private rideshare community. You will be guiding clients through deployments and a promotion strategy to build a critical mass of Zimriders (10 - 20% of each campus) in as little as 6 months.

Responsibilities Will Include
  • Manage 50 or more clients through our partner outreach strategy:
    • Initiate coordinated launches for new clients
    • Organize school-wide and student group emails
    • Manage campus reps (used at some of our client locations)
  • Conduct bi-weekly customer calls to discuss campus outreach strategies/tasks
  • Hit defined user metrics for client communities each semester
  • Maintain Zimride's high level of customer service to drive 100% client renewals
  • Provide input on marketing materials/messaging
  • Upsell new services to existing clients
Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of account management experience
  • Experience in providing positive and friendly customer service over the phone
  • Success managing multiple clients at different stages in their development
  • Able to strive in a startup environment – moves quickly, thinks strategically and is good at tactical execution

University Account Executive

The Position

We are seeking an aspiring sales performer to help expand our customer base within the University market in North America. Your initial assignment will be to focus on pipeline development and lead generation activities. Successful candidates can expect to be assigned a territory within 3-6 months, which may require occasional travel time.

Responsibilities Will Include
  • Outbound Lead Generation and Territory Development
  • Arranging meetings with qualified key stakeholders
  • Participating in presenting and positioning Zimride to prospects
  • Ultimately, end to end responsibility to manage the entire sales cycle from inception to closure within your own assigned territory
Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of sales performance
  • Experience making introductory and open-ended discovery calls
  • Excited to work with multiple buyers in a single sale (experience preferred)
  • Ability to prioritize activities, perform research, and position products within the context of that research
  • Excellent organization, presentation, and communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with change and be a team player
  • College degree required

PR & Communications Specialist

About You

We are looking for someone as passionate as we are to drive our brand, story, and company vision to the next level. You are social-media savvy, a natural networker and have a crazy passion for telling stories.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing, day-to-day responsibilities will include managing the press strategy and working with internal team members to execute successfully on that strategy.

Requirements
  • 3-5+ years at a PR agency (start-up coverage experience a plus)
  • Consumer PR experience desired
  • Exceptional writer and communicator (concise, clear, fun)
  • High attention to detail and organization
  • Have a great sense of humor, or you at least think you do
  • Creative, outgoing, personable and confident
Responsibilities Will Include
  • Manage the Zimride press strategy (building and maintaining ongoing relationships with industry media) - will start with a lot of local consumer press for specific routes and move to larger national consumer press
  • Work closely with our community and marketing teams to create outstanding content for Zimride's site, blog, emails etc.
  • Manage social media strategy
  • Plan speaker series for Zimride leadership team (SXSW, LeWeb etc.)
  • Act as a Zimride spokesperson on internal video clips and with press

Corporate Account Executive

The Position

We are seeking aspiring sales performers to expand our customer base within the Enterprise market in North America. Existing enterprise clients include Facebook, Inuit, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Genentech. Candidates will be expected to manage an end to end sales process and will own a significant US territory within 3 months. Travel will be 25%.

Responsibilities Will Include

Qualifications
