Getting started with Zimride
FAQ
- How do I get started?
-
- Log in with your PwC GUID
- Set up your profile
- Post a ride
- Browse matches, and contact people you are interested in sharing a ride with
- What should I enter in the "starting location" or "ending location" fields?
- Search results are based on information entered in these fields. More detailed information, such as your home address, will generate more accurate search results. However, you can also enter general location information (e.g. your city and state) and exchange additional logistical details relating to your commute upon finding a potential ride-share and connecting with the individual posting the ride. Remember, while providing more details may provide you with more accurate results, any information you post about your commute will be posted on the My Ride site and may reveal personal information, such as your home address, to other users. Participants should review the site’s terms and conditions related to privacy.
Also, when completing your start and end location, separate each piece of the address with a comma.
Full address example: 514 Bryant St, Palo Alto, CA 94301, USA.
Partial address example: Palo Alto, CA, USA
- How are the search results determined?
- The search formula calculates the distance you would have to drive out of your way to pick up a passenger (or vice versa) and displays the results with the best match first. The search formula is able to find people along your route even if the other person isn't starting or ending in the same city. You can use the calendar towards the right of the search results to browse rides for future dates.
- If I add a ride, am I obligated to take anyone who requests a ride?
- No, absolutely not. Spend a few minutes evaluating the person's commuting preferences to get a better sense of whether or not you want to accept their request. You can also reach out to that person for a preliminary call to discuss the specifics of your ride share and determine if you want to pursue the ride share.
- I've accepted a passenger request. What should we do next?
- Once you know who your passengers will be, it can be helpful to reach out and provide the details of your ride share -- when/where will you meet, will you make any stops, and how you can best be contacted.
- I started a ride share, but I've decided I no longer wish to participate. How do I remove myself from my ride share?
- My Ride is a voluntary program offered for the convenience of its participants. If at any point you decide you no longer wish to participate, you need to notify your driver (if you were a passenger) or your passengers (if you were the driver) and deactivate your account (available on your "Edit Profile" page). You should at no time feel any pressure to continue in the ride share
- Can I charge my passengers for the ride I'm sharing?
- Any reimbursement to the driver for offering a ride share is up to the discretion of the driver and passengers, but as a courtesy, we recommend that expectations be communicated in advance of the ride share.
- Can I expense my ride share?
- Firm policy regarding transportation reimbursement applies to My Ride. Normal commuting to and from the office does not qualify as a reimbursable expense. Refer to policies related to expensing transportation to and from a client site at Travel & Expense Reimbursement
As an example, if a rides is eligible for reimbursement, only the driver should be submitting an expense for mileage reimbursement. Also, if the driver is submitting the mileage for reimbursement no payment may be obtained from any of the riders
- If I'm the driver in a ride share, is it okay if I make a stop to/from the office?
- This is a decision that should be made among the passengers and driver. Zimride also provides a potential driver or passenger the ability in the Notes section in Step 3 of the "Add Ride" process to indicate if he/she would like to make any stops along the route.
- If I'm the driver in a ride share, can I also have non-PwC people in the car?
- Only PwC partners, principals and employees should be in the car when you are participating in the program as a driver offering a ride share.
- Can I discuss work matters with others during a ride share?
- Participants in My Ride should follow the PwC Code of Conduct and Our Standards throughout the course of a ride. This includes responsibilities for maintaining confidentiality in regards to client and internal firm matters. Although your fellow passengers also work at PwC, they may not have a need to know about confidential matters you handle or the clients to whom you provide services.
- What are the firm's expectations of my professional conduct during a ride share?
- All PwC partners, principals and employees are expected to adhere to PwC's and the U.S. firm supplement, abiding by firm values and policies by, among other things, treating each other with respect, courtesy and dignity; providing a discrimination and harassment-free environment; and maintaining a safe, alcohol and drug-free ride. For additional information, review the "How We Work" section of Our Standards.
- What if the ride share involves someone on my team or someone I work for?
- When participants in a ride share are on the same team or are in a supervisor/staff member relationship, they should be conscious of the possibility of real or perceived favoritism. If you have any questions or concerns in this regard, please contact the [Ethics Office].
- I noticed inappropriate content posted on a participant's profile page. What should I do?
- If you see content that does not adhere to the firm's Code of Conduct as set forth in Our Standards, you may report it by clicking "Report Inappropriate Content" in the bottom right corner of that participant's page.
